'For Every Child, Every Right!'
#World Children's DayEvery year on 20th November, the world comes together to celebrate World Children's Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the needs, rights and aspirations of children everywhere. The significance of this day is to raise awareness about the importance of upholding the children's rights.
Child rights are human rights. But in many places today, children's rights are under attack.
World children's day was made to create space for children and young people to raise their voices on the issues that matter to them. This day is designed to put a spotlight on key issues affecting children such as child abuse and violence, poverty, hunger and malnutrition, lack of access to education and health care, homelessness, mental health, teenage pregnancies and child neglect.
Children and young people have the same general rights and also specific rights that recognize their special needs. Children are neither the property of their parents nor are they hopeless objects of charity. They are human beings and are the subject to their rights. The Convection on the Rights of Child sets out the rights must be realized for children to reach their potential.
Despite significant advancements in child welfare, millions of children worldwide continue to face challenges. These challenges need our attention and require concerted efforts to create a world where every child can live a life of dignity, safety and hope.
On this World's Children's Day, let us pledge to:
. Protect children from all harms and
exploitation and ensuring their safety and security in their homes and communities and in online space.
. Advocate for children's right, holding governments and organizations accountable for upholding children's rights.
. Empower children's voices, listening to their opinions and perspectives and encourage their active participation in shaping their future and the world around them.
. Invest in education, provide equality learning opportunities for all children regardless of their socioeconomic status or gender.
. Ensure access to education, health care services and promoting physical and mental well-being for children.
World Children's Day is not just a day of celebration or commemoration; it is a call to action and a catalyst for change and a reminder of our own collective responsibilities to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. It is a day to reflect on the progress made in upholding children's rights and to identify the challenges that still lie ahead.
Let's seize this opportunity to create a world where every child can flourish, where their dreams can take flight and where their voices are heard and valued. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children today and build a brighter future for generations to come.
