FILLING THE GAP IN LEADERSHIP FOR GIRLS.

By Mumtaz Chilwan.

Girls and women leadership is critical to put on a path to be a peaceful, sustainable and equitable future.Girls are just as capable as boys of becoming leaders. However, they face challenges that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
There are challenges that limit them from reaching their full potential. One of the challenge is gender stereotypes. Gender stereotypes lead to unintended discrimination against girls, and companies or organizations miss out on gaining talented female leaders.

There are possible ways that can be used to fill the gap in leadership for girls.
Providing girls with opportunities to develop leadership skills through extracurricular activities, mentorship programs and leadership training workshops will be a support to them and it will fill the gap. Also challenging gender stereotypes helps to bridge the gap and nurturing their talents. Another way that can be used to fill the gap in leadership for girls is by encouraging girls to take on leadership  roles in schools and organizations by providing them with opportunities to lead projects and recognizing their contribution.

Girls and women always make great leaders.
This is because of their adaptability. The ability to adapt to a change is a vital skill. Women are able to adapt to changes around them and face obstacles around them in the workforce.
Also girls and women make great leaders due to their emotional intelligence and empathy. It's more acceptable for women to show emotional intelligence, which involves self awareness, ability to manage your emotions and empathy towards others. Emotional intelligence and empathy are important leadership skill because they boost your collaboration and trust.
In addition to that, girls and women make good role models. They would highly benefit from seeing successful women in leadership positions. If they see that it is truly possible to attain, they're more likely to gain ambition and purpose.

Filling the gap in leadership will take time and effort. However, by working together we can  create a world where all  girls have the opportunity to lead.
